The Society of the Hawley Family is proud and very pleased to sponsor the Hawley Surname Project at FamilyTreeDNA. A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. The importance of the information allows one to scientifically understand the genetic connection or lack thereof to others in the study. Many of us having done pen and paper research at times are forced to make assumptions due to the lack of availability of some records. Utilizing DNA can close the gap and increase one’s level of certainty of their ancestry. The goal ultimately is to scientifically connect ourselves to our European ancestors since at this time, we have no specific proof of our antecedents.
We invite and encourage you to participate in the DNA Study if you are a Hawley or an individual with any variation of the surname. Valuable information can be gained from your participation!
