The Hawley Society was organized in 1923 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by descendants of Joseph Hawley (1603-1690), believed to be one of the first Hawleys to settle in the new world. We exist to preserve the memory, records and history of the Hawley Family, and to promote friendly acquaintance and sociability among our members.

We were incorporated in Connecticut in 1927 and are a corporation managed by an Executive Committee who serve as volunteers. There are no employees on payroll. Membership dues help fund the ongoing operations. Two of our primary missions are continuing the search to find our English antecedents and to update and republish THE HAWLEY RECORD, 1890.

STIGMA by Philip Hawley, Jr

When science surrenders to man’s darkest impulses, who will protect the innocents?

In Los Angeles, a young Mayan boy with a blue-crescent-moon tattoo dies mysteriously. In Central America, a puzzling illness is spreading among Mayan tribal villages.

And soon, E.R. physician Luke McKenna will discover the link between these events and demons from his dark past. The secrets that haunt Luke are about to pull him and the woman he loves into a terrifying house of mirrors where nothing is as it first appears. Time is running out, and only by reawakening the ghost of Luke McKenna’s past can they discover the truth.

His enemies may also discover a truth: When threatened, Luke McKenna is a very dangerous man.

Philip Hawley Jr. was born in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in southern California reading the stories of authors like Alistair MacLean, Frederick Forsyth, and Robert Ludlum—more often than not while hiding behind his parents’ garage to escape the household chores that come with being one of eight children.

As one of the eldest, Philip usually got saddled with feeding and changing the diapers of his younger siblings, which probably had something to do with his later becoming a pediatrician.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame and USC Medical School, he completed his training in general pediatrics at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Currently, he is an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine.

Philip became an author to write novels that combine the authenticity and sharp edges of today’s thrillers with the epic adventure elements found in works of the genre’s early masters. His first novel, STIGMA, draws on his personal experiences as a physician working among remote Indian tribes in the Central American rain forests.

He also has an MBA from using Paxil online Harvard, which will likely come in handy if one of his characters ever needs to wire money to a bank in Geneva or topple a Wall Street hedge fund.

A lifelong lover of music, he has during various periods of his life played three instruments—piano, clarinet, and guitar. Sadly, none very well.

Philip lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son, and daughter.
